VWDSX is a sophisticated wavelength-dispersive
electron microprobe analysis simulation software.

A full set of pure standards spectra have been
saved to a database. This allows Virtual WDS to display an hypothetic
spectrum corresponding to a known composition sample.
From this generated spectrum the user can then obtained very
interesting information which relate to the analytical conditions which
should be used when analyzing similar sample, i.e:
- Optimal background positions.
- Possible interferences.
- Peak to background ratio for a given accelerating voltage.
- Analytical precision and detection limits.
The XMAS
and Virtual WDS integration, allow those two software packages to communicate
some information, elements and the compositions (XMAS à VWDS),
the background offsets and the counting time (VWDS à XMAS).
